High-Tech R&D Expert Joins Equitrac Leadership Team

New VP of Product Development prepares much anticipated product launch

Plantation, FL - August 4, 2009 -- Equitrac Corporation, an award-winning print and cost management solutions provider, today announced that industry veteran Fred Whiteside has joined its leadership team as vice president of product development. Whiteside will lead all aspects of engineering including global research & development, product definition and roadmap, as well as strategic partnership activities related to product integration necessary for Equitrac to deliver product solutions to customers around the world.

Whiteside joins the team as Equitrac prepares to release its highly anticipated embedded lines for the professional market.

His background spans more than 25 years in the high-tech industry with technical, business and hands-on experience. Most recently he was vice president of software engineering for SOMA Networks, where he managed all aspects of software R&D for the entire portfolio of WiMax solutions. He also led the interactions with third party vendors to ensure on-time delivery of quality products.

Whiteside began his career in the software industry as co-founder of Beame & Whiteside Software Ltd., where he co-authored one of the first TCP/IP protocol stacks for PCs and subsequently sold the business to Hummingbird Communications Ltd. At Hummingbird, he held various senior level positions over a period of nine years, overseeing its R&D operation for all product lines including the award-winning DOCS family of document management systems. He also served as vice president of engineering for BorderWare Technologies. Whiteside holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Masters degree in Computation from McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario).
